National Quality Registry for Cataracts

Registry category: Eye diseases

Certification level: 1

Central personal data controller (CPUA): Region Blekinge

The National Quality Registry for Cataracts was originally established to monitor the effects of the introduction of the limited waiting time guarantee for patients waiting for cataract operations.

The core registry focuses on demographics, waiting times for surgery and visual function at the time of surgery. The registry has been expanded to include outcome data, perceived benefit of the surgery and the prevalence of post-operative endophthalmitis (infection inside the eye). A key objective is to document differences in the country in terms of availability and outcome.
