The Peppol transport model
The transport model describes how messages are transferred and acknowledged between participants through intermediary access points provided by access point service providers.
Peppol utilizes the security mechanisms included in the AS4 transport protocol for communication between access points. Specific security mechanisms (encryption algorithms, transport protocols, etc.) for the integration of the access point with the participant's system are not regulated in detailed, but Peppol's contractual framework requires appropriate security mechanisms to be applied.
Message transmission and acknowledgments between access points are always encrypted and signed, providing confidentiality, integrity, and non-repudiation.
