School to Work

Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions is the leader of the Flagship School to Work (S2W) within the policy area education of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region since 2014.

Flagship School to Work initiates and supports collaboration in the Baltic Sea Region to prevent early school leaving and to develop support measures for young people who are neither in education, nor employment or training. The aim of the Flagship School to Work is to:

  • Strengthen transnational cooperation,
  • Create a common platform of understanding and learning,
  • Achieve dissemination of successful methods,
  • Inspire to new initiatives, projects and collaborations.

Flagship gathers more than 60 members. They are schools, civil society organizations, municipalities, public employment services, welfare institutions, businesses, academia, and government institutions (regional and national).

Functions of the flagship S2W are driven by three Knowledge Platforms:

  • Knowledge Platform on Early School Leaving and Knowledge Platform on Newly Arrived Refugees is coordinated by the Division of Education of City Turku,
  • Knowledge Platform on NEET is coordinated by the Norden Association in Sweden.

Flagship runs activities since 2012 to strengthen cooperation among institutions and organizations in the Baltic Sea Region.
