Active work for Gender Equality : a challenge for municipalities and county councils : a Swedish perspective

It is in everyday life that gender equality is created – or inequality sustained. The Swedish municipalities and county councils meet inhabitants in everyday life at all stages of life, from neonatal care to care of the elderly. Municipalities and county councils therefore have a key role when it comes to making gender equality policy a reality.

The members of the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions have implemented a lot of gender equality initiatives. This booklet reviews the experiences obtained from initiatives in activities which citizens, inhabitants and patients come into contact with. What can be learned from these initiatives? What is important for a sustainable work for gender equality?
