Ryan Knox
Professional profile
Ryan Knox is the Managing Director of SALAR International. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from the University of Birmingham and a Master’s degree in Development Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. He has over 20 years’ experience of international development cooperation and has lived and worked in numerous countries in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
As a governance specialist who has worked for the EU, UN, academia, the private sector and NGOs, he is experienced in designing, managing and overseeing projects and programmes that support local governance, local public service delivery, sustainable development, gender equality and area-based resilience and recovery. He has supported numerous organizational capacity development processes targeting local, regional and national authorities, as well as local government associations and NGOs. He has wide knowledge of other sectors within humanitarian and development assistance and is particularly experienced in leading policy dialogue on a range of critical issues, including decentralization reforms and the triple (humanitarian-development-peace) nexus in conflict and displacement contexts.
