Magnus Liljeström

Professional profile

Magnus Liljeström is Senior advisor at SALAR International, and has a background in journalism, combined with studies in political science and history.

He has more than 30 years of experience in working with development cooperation and has been a member of SALAR Internationals team since 2009. Magnus has also worked for Swedish NGOs, at the Swedish International Development Co-operation Agency Sida and as a consultant and evaluator within his own company. Magnus is also a local politician, currently as a member of the municipal council, the executive board and the social welfare committee of his home municipality.

He has experience of working in Latin America, Africa, Europe and the Middle East. For the last seven years he has focused mainly on processes of decentralisation and support to local government associations in Ukraine and Tunisia.
