Thyroid Cancer (TC) is the most common form of cancer in the endocrine glands. The rate of incidence has long been about 4 cases per 100,000 persons per year. The prognosis varies between different types of tumour. A common problem when it comes to the evaluation of optimal administration of TC is that there is a lack of good randomised studies comparing different treatments. There is therefore a degree of uncertainty as regards surgical extent, who should be offered radioactive iodine therapy, etc. A national task force has now developed a National Care Programme for the treatment of TC.

The purpose of a national registry is to continuously monitor and evaluate treatment outcomes when the guidelines established in the care programme are applied.

Note: Variable lists are updated on a regular basis and should therefore be seen as preliminary. For the latest version, please contact the registry.
