Psychosis care

National Quality Registry for Psychosis Care (PsykosR)

Registry category: Mental health

Certification level: 3

Central personal data controller (CPUA): Region Uppsala

Pyschosis disorders, and primarily schizophrenia, often cause great suffering for both patients and their families. They account for a significant portion of our healthcare costs because the disorders often appear at an early age, and many people develop a chronic condition. A large percentage of the patients, more than 50 percent, also have a significantly impaired functional ability and therefore often require assistance from the government and help with income support.

The aim of the PsykosR registry is to compile data on the scope and prevalence of psychosis disorders in Sweden, and to evaluate and improve care through comparisons of working methods and results.

Registrations and data will be only a small part of the quality registry’s work. In the long term, the registry’s main activities will comprise different types of improvement measures, methodological support, information, dissemination and coordination of good practice and experience that can increase knowledge and improve care and support for persons with psychosis and their families.
